Army veteran Darrell Armstrong participates in sailing lessons along the Hudson River as part of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Adaptive Sports Program. Darrell has attended sailing and fencing programs for the past four years as a part of the physical and mental support he receives from the VA as a veteran injured during his service. Darrell served as a Sergeant in infantry units abroad during the 1980's. He was honorably discharged after sustaining military operation-related injuries to his legs at a young age.
